JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) reported on Thursday that its passenger traffic increased by 9.1% in January 2010 compared to the same month last year, on a capacity increase of 8.9%.

As a result the load factor for January 2010 increased by 0.1 percentage points to 74.1%.

The New York-based carrier's preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile for January decreased by 2% year-on-year.

JetBlue also reported that its completion factor for January was 98.5% and its on-time performance was 74.6%.

The airline carried 1,766,027 passengers during the month, an increase of 5.9% from 1,667,702 in January 2009.
