Bomb threat snarls LAX

]A 27-year-old man who claimed to be terrorist and threatened to set off explosives at Los Angeles International Airport faces a felony charge of making a false bomb threat, authorities said Thursday.

Scott Juhun Lee of Irvine was arrested after telling an airport police officer that he was carrying a bomb inside his backpack just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

He was arrested after dropping the black bag at the officer's feet outside the Tom Bradley International Terminal. No explosives were found inside the bag.

Lee is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail at Twin Towers Jail in downtown Los Angeles and might also face federal charges of making a false bomb threat.

The Joint Terrorism Task Force in Los Angeles is investigating the circumstances surrounding the bomb scare, which led to a massive traffic jam and caused delays of up to two hours for 131 flights coming in and out of LAX.

After taking Lee into custody on Wednesday, the LAPD's bomb squad fired a water cannon at the bag in an attempt to detonate any explosive devices, but nothing happened, according to Airport Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb. A police robot then searched the bag, which did not contain anything volatile.
